Maureen Richins
She hated the name ERMA so she was always called Maureen. She was born October 20, 1929 in Brigham City Utah, the daughter of Victor S. Nelson and Mary Irma Bradshaw. She was a child of the great depression and her family was poor, but had a wonderful life with two brothers and one sister. They all preceded her in death. She was the final survivor of her immediate family.
Maureen was very close with her father, they shared many good times together in the vegetable garden and the fruit trees that they had in their backyard. Though things were not easy they valued the love of family most. She was a Dodgeo dancer in High School, a rare and interesting sport! She was small, so was able to be thrown around by strong young men in a dance. She graduated from Brigham City High School, She was also crowned Peach Queen of Brigham City Utah! After graduation she went to Weber State College From which she graduated with a degree in Cosmetology. While at Weber State she met Boyd W. Richins, who was going to college in Diesel Mechanics. They fell in love and were married in Brigham City, Utah on July 15, 1949. They had a wonderful marriage, totally committed to each other, they were partners in life completely. Two sons were born to them, Daniel Boyd and Michael Robert. Horses and Camping and hunting were very important parts of their partnership. Later three girls, Lona, Beth and Karen, came to live with them also. Friends of her children were also considered children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her precious diamonds. Both she and Boyd loved them so much and always wanted them close. She and Boyd became active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served the church as a teacher, Relief Society President and Stake Relief Society President. Her home was always welcoming and open.
She died December 12, 2024 at her home. The Funeral will be held at the Grover Ward, December 18, 2024 at 12 p.m. with a meeting of family prior. Burial will be in the Grover, Wyoming Cemetery beside her husband Boyd.
