Cowboys Host Nevada in Mountain West Conference Action on Saturday

• Contest set for 2 p.m. Start, Teddy Bear Toss at Halftime

 The Wyoming Cowboys return home after the Holidays hosting Nevada in the conference home opener for the Brown and Gold. The contest is slated for a 2 p.m. start in the Arena-Auditorium as the Cowboys closed non-conference play with a pair of wins.

Saturday’s game will  feature a Teddy Bear Toss at halftime benefiting Ivinson Memorial Hospital along with the Baby Crawl Race.

Fans can watch, listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Keith Kelly will be on the call alongside Kevin McKinney.

Wyoming heads into the contest with a 7-5 overall record and an 0-1 mark in conference play. The Cowboys closed non-conference play with a pair of wins over Bellarmine and CSU Fullerton. The Pokes are shooting 47.1 percent from the field and are allowing opponents to shoot 42.8 percent. Wyoming is shooting 34.3 percent from behind the arc with 7.6 makes per game. Wyoming holds opponents to 30.4 percent from behind the arc for second in the conference. UW has had double-digit threes in back-to-back games. Nevada heads into the weekend with an 8-4 overall record and a 0-1 mark in conference play. The Wolf Pack dropped a 66-64 contest to Colorado State on Dec. 21 in their last action. Nevada averages 76.6 points per game and allows 66.3 per night. Nevada is shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 41.6 percent from behind the arc to lead the MW in both and rank fifth in the nation from behind the arc. The Wolf Pack adds 34.7 rebounds per game to rank ninth in the conference.

The Cowboys are led in scoring this season by Obi Agbim at 18.9 points per night for second in the MW and No. 39 in the nation. He ranks second in the MW shooting 53.7 percent from the field and leads the conference shooting 47.8 percent from behind the arc. Kobe Newton adds 10.2 points per game and added 20 against CSUF for a career high. He has made 21 threes this season and has 20 assists. Jordan Nesbitt adds 9.9 points per game and leads the team with 8.4 rebounds per game for fourth in the MW.

Nevada is led in scoring by Kobe Sanders at 15.2 points per game. He is shooting 44.7 percent from behind the arc with 17 makes. Nick Davidson adds 15 points per game and leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per night. He is shooting 53.6 percent from the field. Tre Coleman adds 9.3 points per game and is second on the team with 50 assists behind 56 from Sanders.

About The Series

The Cowboys and Wolf Pack will meet for the 32nd time on Saturday. The Pokes lead the all-time series 21-10 with the first meeting coming back in 1938. The Cowboys hold a 13-5 lead in the series in Laramie.
