D.C. Report: Hageman, Lummis and Barrasso

Senator John Barrasso, Senator Cynthia Lummis and Representative Harriet Hageman.

U.S. Rep. Harriet  Hageman

Although I am proud of the accomplishments of the 118th Congress (both in relation to the bills we passed and our oversight work exposing the corruption and radicalness of the Biden-Harris administration), I am optimistic that the 119th Congress will be more successful in pursuing much-needed regulatory, administrative, and legislative reform.

I am happy to report that in the 118th Congress, I introduced 40 bills and cosponsored 306 pieces of legislation. Of the 40 bills I introduced, seven passed the House of Representatives, and I succeeded in getting 34 amendments passed as well. One of my bills, the Victims’ VOICES Act, was signed into law, and four of my policy ideas were signed into law through amendments to larger pieces of legislation, with one more currently sitting on the President’s desk awaiting signature into law.

My largest priorities in the 119th Congress will be to continue introducing legislation and pursuing policies to protect Wyoming, most notably working to block the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s electronic identification ear tag mandate and the Bureau of Land Management’s Buffalo and Rock Springs Resource Management Plans. I will also keep fighting to de-list the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem grizzly bear, prioritize our First Amendment rights, and ensure American energy independence. Finally, I look forward to working with the Department of Government Efficiency to rein in the bureaucracy and cut government spending. The incoming Congress has a great opportunity to enact real change in D.C., and I am excited to be a part of what’s to come.

U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis

The past four years ushered in sky-high inflation, record-breaking illegal immigration numbers and radical Green New Deal policies impacting every corner of the Cowboy State. The people of Wyoming have paid the price for democrats’ senseless policies that needlessly locked up our public lands and stunted economic growth. I do not need to tell you that the impacts of the Biden administration hit home every time you go to the grocery store or fill your gas tank. If the last four years under the Biden-Harris administration’s thumb have taught us anything, it’s that its Big Government policies do not work for Wyoming, and they do not work for the American people.

Fortunately, Biden’s spending spree will come to a screeching halt on January 20, 2025, when President Trump will immediately get to work slashing Biden’s bureaucratic red tape, shoring up security measures at our southwest border and delivering relief to the Cowboy State.  President Trump has tapped some of the best and brightest men and women from outside the D.C. beltway to address the Biden administration’s self-inflicted crises and fight for the west, including Interior Secretary Doug Burgam, who will put an end to the weaponization of the Endangered Species Act, and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin who promised to unleash American energy dominance. I have no doubt the next four years will not just reverse the disastrous policies that have crippled Wyoming but also bring relief and prosperity to our homes.

It is clear the American people want change, and that starts right here in Washington in the New Year under new leadership. President Trump and his team set out on a course to build back a country the American people can be proud of, and I am honored to do my part to help the people of Wyoming.

U.S. Sen. John Barrasso

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) issued the following statement after voting to pass the FY 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“America needs a strong military to defend our nation at home and abroad. As we face increasing threats from our adversaries, we need to make sure our military has top-of-the-line resources,” said Senator Barrasso. “This year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) eliminates woke Pentagon policies and prioritizes military readiness and modernization. It gives our troops a significant and much-deserved pay raise. It also includes funding for critical projects at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. Signing this bill into law as soon as possible will make sure our servicemen and women have the resources they need to protect all Americans and our freedoms.”

This year’s NDAA authorizes funding to support a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers (E1-E4) and a 4.5% pay raise for all other military members. It also includes Senator Barrasso’s legislation with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) to ensure the Air Force maintains at least 271 total C-130 aircraft.

The NDAA includes funding for the much-needed Rip and Replace program at the Federal Communications Commission. This program will enhance security in our networks by removing banned Chinese telecommunications equipment in Wyoming and across the country.

Barrasso was also successful in securing critical funding and provisions for Wyoming’s F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

Key Wyoming Provisions Included in the NDAA:

• Sentinel ICBM Program – $3.9 billion

• MH-139 Air Force Security Forces Replacement Helicopter – $294 million

• Hybrid Energy Capability Increase – $2.5 million

• Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Consolidated Maintenance Facility – $50 million

• GBSD Land acquisition (Phase 2) – $59 million

• GBSD Utility Corridor – $70 million

• Air National Guard Vehicle Maintenance Building (Cheyenne) – $4 million
