A new version of a classic song is up for vote in this week’s Kick It or Keep It on SVI Radio.
“We Didn’t Start The Fire” was released by Fall Out Boy on Wednesday, June 28. The single is a remake of the same song done by Billy Joel in 1989. Fall Out Boy updated the lyrics to the song to include more modern events and terminology. For example, the song references Harry Potter, the death of Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Y2K and the L.A. Riots.
Since its release the song has jumped up to the #2 overall downloaded song, across all genres, on iTunes. Ironically enough, the #1 downloaded song on iTunes continues to be “Fast Car” by Luke Combs, which is another remake of a popular hit from decades ago.
If kept, the song will be added to the Swift 98 playlist. Vote to kick or keep the song by texting 307-203-4637. Voting ends at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 3.
