The slide area between Alpine and Hoback Junction has been cleared as of 4:25 pm Wednesday.
The slide area between Afton and the Idaho State Line has been cleared as of 3:26 pm Wednesday

A large snowpack and gradually warming temperatures are causing avalanche conditions and other slide areas throughout the region.
Currently US 89 between Afton and the Idaho State Line is closed as of 1:13 due to an avalanche. There is currently no estimated opening time.
A separate slide has closed US 26/89 between Alpine and Hoback Junction. There is also no estimated time to open the road.
Additional slides have knocked out power in the Cokeville area.
Avalanche mitigation is also taking place Bondurant and Hoback Junction.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation reminds drivers that parking on the roadway is prohibited and delays WYDOT from opening the road.
The National Weather Service is forecasting snow showers likely this evening with a 70% chance of precipitation. Sunny conditions are expected to return on Thursday and Friday with temperatures in the lower 30’s for the high.
