The South Lincoln Hospital District will hold its 25th Annual Golf Scramble at Fossil Island Golf Park on August 15 with a goal to raise money to expand women’s health services in the region.
Marketing Coordinator for South Lincoln Medical Center, Cathy Sundberg, says this is one of the biggest fundraisers the hospital has. She also says there will be a raffle in connection with the event.
“All of that money is going to be going towards a mobile mammography unit,” Sundberg said.
She describes it as a bus. It will have all the mammography equipment you need in it. She says this will allow services to extend to rural areas for people who cannot get themselves to the medical center.
“So we’re going to be able to go out and reach more people this way,” Sundberg said. “It is very, very exciting.”
She says they’re hoping to be able to use this in all of southwest Wyoming and not just within the district. She also says the hospital is hoping to be able to have a mobile mammography unit at the golf tournament for people to come walk through, but right now they are not sure if that will happen.
Sundberg says the hospital will have a kick-off event on August 14 in the Kemmerer Triangle where they will announce the winner of the raffle. The prize is a five night stay for two people at the Westin Resort and Spa in Cancun, Mexico. This will be good through 2022. Tickets are limited to this and you can purchase them through any SLHD employee. If you do not have a contact you can contact the hospital’s business development.
As for the tournament the hospital will be doing teams of no more than five. It will be 18 holes and it will have a morning flight and an afternoon flight. Registration fee includes green fees, golf carts, a raffle ticket, and two drink tickets. You can register here.
Sundberg also says there will be food trucks so even if you’re not golfing you can come out and get some food and enjoy time outside.
