The Star Valley Search & Rescue put their snowbulance to use while assisting a snowmobiler with a broken leg. S&R was dispatched to the top of Squaw Creek on Monday, Feb. 26 for an injured snowmobiler.

“The team went in with the snowbulance and located the injured subject and the riding party, said S&R in a statement. “Alpine EMS came up with the off road ambulance and staged at the teepee warming shelter. Once we were able to get the subject packaged and in the snowbulance, we made our way to meet EMS with the ambulance where we transferred the subject.”

“This call out went very smooth thanks to the working relationships we have and the tools at our disposal,” concluded Star Valley Search & Rescue. “We want to shout out to the Top of the Rockies for putting up and maintaining the teepee every year. This has been valuable in many searches. We also want to thank EMS for their assistance.”

Star Valley Search & Rescue also reminded backcountry riders to be aware of changing snow conditions throughout the day. “We see many injuries this time of year due to folks that expect the sled or ski’s to act one way and it catches them off guard when they do something different due to wet and heavier snow.”
