Star Valley Historical Society meets Thursday evening

Provided by the
Star Valley Historical Society

The Star Valley Historical Society invites the public to our gathering Thursday March 21 2024 at 7 p.m. in the Salt River Senior Center. This month we will share some interesting information about Star Valley pioneers gathered by the WPA writers project, then archived by the State of Wyoming. The Works Progress Administration paid wages for unemployed US citizens for several public projects in Lincoln County from 1933 to 1942.

The hot school lunch program was first funded by the federal government during these depression years.

By sharing some archived recorded oral histories and typed interviews, we hope attendees at our meeting will learn how to access the state archives. This could open a whole new world about the early days of Wyoming for interested historians.
