Text-In Topic Responses: Inflation Sticker Shock

During SVI Radio’s Weekday Wakeup on Thursday, Duke & Dahl discussed inflation and asked listeners to chime in with what everyday items have given them the most sticker shock as prices continue to climb. Here are their responses. The Weekday Wakeup can be heard Monday-Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m. on Swift 98.7 FM, The Spur 106.7 (lower valley) and The Spur 107.5 (upper valley).

“Batteries. They’ve always been costly, but they are extra painful to buy now.”

“Donuts! Remember when you could buy a donut for 25 cents? Buying dollar donuts stinks!”

“Eggs, talk about greedy, the poor chickens, get nothing except butcher in the end an eaten.”

“I used to eat lunch for what a pop and candy bar cost now. I’ve slow down on buying jerky getting high priced.”

“Let’s go Brandon t shirts are out of this world expensive.”

“Cereal.”

“Second hand vehicles, my son is currently trying to buy one, and the prices are higher than I anticipated.”

“Good thing I don’t like eggs. You ever see where they from? YUK.”

“Literally anything perishable.”

“Oh goodness….Eggs! Good ol’ German pancakes are becoming a delicacy in our house.”

“Butter.”

“My wife Won’t let me go grocery shopping anymore because I don’t shop the deals, so that’s been a blessing.”

“Our first house cost us $49000.00- no way we will buy a new truck for twice that!”

“Absolutely my spending habits on the daily necessities have changed. I’m one of the lucky ones with a good job and paycheck that meets my needs. But I’m pinching pennies. Eggs, bread and milk are out. I’ve switched to canned veggies. Whatever I can make at home, I do. I have a firm grocery budget and when that’s met, tough. I get creative or go without.”

“7.50 for hamburger buns ( in Jackson).”
