The World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb took place in Jackson over the weekend and several Star Valley riders were among the best of the crowd who challenged the hill on Sunday’s finals.

First in the 900 Stock category, Luke Rainey of Thayne finished with the first place time of 1:23.30 followed two spots back by Jay Mentaberry of Star Valley Ranch who ran third with a 1:27.7.

Andy Thomas of Etna clocked a 1:17.30 in the 900 Mod which was good for a second place finish. Thomas also had the third-fastest run in the Open Mod division. Mentaberry was third in the 1000 Stock and fourth in the Open Mod.

Cole Thomas of Afton ran a 1:33.30 for fourth place in the 1000 Improved Stock division.

Justin Thomas, riding out of Idaho Falls, claimed three world championships in the 600 Mod, 900 Mod and Open Mod runs.

Thomas was named the King of Kings for his efforts, snapping a five-year run from Keith Curtis out of Dillon, Montana. Thomas had previously won the ‘King” title once before in 2018.
