Star Valley High School graduate and school record-holder, Peter Visser, qualified for the U20 U.S. Mens Track and Field World Team by placing second in the 3000-Meter Steeplechase in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday.
Visser, a current freshman at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, finished the race with a time of 9:02.07. His time was good for second-place behind Bryce Lentz of the Air Force Academy who finished with a time of 8:58.46.
Third place was Logan Patete of South Caroline Upstate who finished with a time of 9:13.54.
The top two runners qualify for the U.S. Team and will compete in the U20 World Championships in Santiago de Cali, Colombia August 1-6.
Visser was part of five different team championships at Star Valley High School in Cross-Country and Track and Field. He won the Wyoming 3A individual state cross-country championship three consecutive times (2018-2020) and was named the Wyoming Gatorade Runner of the Year twice. He was coached at SVHS by Ty Draney.
He is the son of Justin and Jennie Visser.
