WYDOT open house to discuss Thayne North Project is Dec. 12

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has announced that a public hearing relating to the highway improvement project from Thayne north to Etna will take place on Thursday, Dec. 12.  The meeting has been scheduled for the Thayne Community Center from 5-7 p.m. and will be an open house style public hearing.

In February 2016, WYDOT initiated an Environmental Assessment process to “evaluate improvements to the 7.87-mile portion of U.S. 89 between Thayne and Etna.”

The Environmental Assessment was designed to meet federal requirements as well as identify transportation needs, review alternatives and create an impact assessment.

According to WYDOT, the Environmental Assessment was signed on Nov. 1. The EA will be available for public review and comment from Nov. 20 through Jan. 5. A copy of the Environmental Assessment is available for download on the Wyoming Department of Transportation website.

During the Dec. 12 open house WYDOT will present information relating to the project impacts, mitigation and the recommended alternative.

WYDOT staff will be available throughout the hearing to answer questions and discuss the project.
Comments on the Environmental Assessment may be submitted at the Dec. 12 meeting or submitted to Stephanie Harsha, WYDOT District 3 Public Relations Specialist by email or mail. Send emails to stephanie.harsha@wyo.gov. Send mailed comments to 3200 Elk Street, Rock Springs, WY, 82902.
