LVE hosts public meeting on solar project

• Construction of facility paid for by subscriptions

Bedford area residents gathered in a breakout room of the Thayne Community Center Monday night to review plans for a solar project.

The Lower Valley Energy Solar project is slated for construction in the summer of 2025 near the gravel pit east of the County Land-fill on Strawberry Creek Road, also known as County Road 126.

Brian Tanabe, Lower Valley Energy Communications Manager, explained the project will be subscription based for the co op’s members who want solar based power.

A specific number of subscriptions will be set aside for Lincoln County residents. He said the site will be built on seven acres with additional acres set aside for vegetation landscaping.

Tanabe emphasized the Lower Valley’s membership will not pay for the solar operations, it will be paid for by the subscriptions.

  1. Wow that’s pretty spineless and incredibly revealing! Somehow solar is a viable, legitimate, and worthy investment for Lower Valley Energy and Senator Dockstader, but not for the rest of the state. Fresh out of session where Senator Dockstader torpedoed a net metering bill that would have opened up projects like this for all rate payers in Wyoming, he trots back to his position as a board member of Lower Valley to install a solar system for specific “subscribers”. It’s a noble project as long as it is entirely controlled by the utility and they maintain their monopolistic control, but we must not let our subservient rate payers have any chance at a level playing field. Pretty shameless to say the least.
