• Love for the outdoors shines as Osiris shares his passion

Growing up fishing, riding horses, dirt biking, and skiing, Osiris Lowe has always found joy in exploring nature. This year, his love for the outdoors paid off in a big way — he won a Lifetime Fishing License in Wyoming.

The 12-year-old shared that this was the first year he has participated in the event. After his grandpa Michael Lowe signed up Osiris and his brother, Braxton for the Kemmerer Lions Club Ice Fishing Derby, Osiris was told about the drawing being done by the Wyoming Game & Fish for a Lifetime Fishing License. He and his brother signed a slip of paper to enter on their first day at the event.

To their surprise, Osiris’s name was the first to be drawn, making him the winner of a fishing license that will allow him to fish in Wyoming waters for the rest of his life. Osiris shared that he is “pretty excited” to have the opportunity to fish in Wyoming for the rest of his life using the license.

Fishing has long been a family tradition for the Lowes. Trina Lowe, Osiris’s grandma, described their family’s outdoor adventures, saying, “Grandpa takes them ice fishing, I take them river fishing.” Osiris’s favorite fishing spot is “up South End at Cole Canyon,” a location that holds special memories for him.

Fishing with his brother Braxton is always an adventure, with the two often turning it into a friendly competition to see who can catch the most. Osiris admits he doesn’t always win but adds with a grin, “It’s just fun! Also, I like fish — they taste good.”

Since he was little, Osiris was raised fishing, riding horses, dirt biking, skiing and doing all things outdoors. While talking about her grandsons, Trina shares, “When they’re not on a horseback ride, they’re on a dirt bike ride somewhere.”

Beyond fishing, Osiris has a rich history of exploring the outdoors. Since the age of two, he’s helped his grandpa bait for bears and is hopeful to secure a bear tag of his own this year. The only downside, he joked, is “carrying that heavy rifle on my back.”

He also loves to pick rocks, especially geodes and flint. “He loves to build guns old style with Logos and they actually work. He can tell you anything you want to know about almost every gun build through history, especially WWI and WWII.” He also loves learning and sharing facts about the Titanic. Trina proudly shares his passions saying, “He can build anything, no matter what it is. If he has a picture and a tub of Legos, he will build it!”

With a lifetime of fishing ahead, Osiris Lowe is sure to keep embracing the wild beauty of Wyoming’s great outdoors. His family’s commitment to adventure has not only deepened his appreciation for nature but has also given him lifelong memories of bonding over simplicity of casting a line.
