• Color Guard takes extra rehearsal time for team members
Five members of the Star Valley High School Marching Braves Color Guard recently traveled to Blackfoot, Idaho to compete in the Idaho Indoor Circuit based out of Boise.
Open only to performances by Color Guards and Drumlines, this competition featured 10 other Color Guard units in two divisions and two Indoor Winter Drumlines.
“Our girls competed against three other guards in their division,” said Kurt Sand, SVHS Band Director, in an email to SVI Media. “They performed really well and were awarded a 2nd place finish. They especially enjoyed watching the other Color Guard performances and learned many things to help our performances be stronger. For most of the group it was their very first experience at this kind of competition. We are very proud of these girls taking on this additional challenge in their busy lives and performing at a high level!”
SVHS Color Guard Captain, Kassy Taylor, choreographed and designed the drill. To prepare for the competition, Taylor and her team rehearsed before school on Tuesday mornings and after school on Thursdays. In addition to Taylor, Color Guard members include Savanna Sloan, Kayliann Staley, Rachel Thygerson, and Evalyn Andrus.
