The Lincoln County Republican Party recently held elections for local leadership. Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen gathered to elect the County Party Executive Committee, which is tasked with guiding the work of the local party as well as representing the county as a whole at the state level.

Lance Oviatt was elected Chairman, with Marti Halverson as North Chairman and John Long as South Chairman. Taylor Allred was chosen as State Committeeman while Dawn Marquardt was selected as State Committeewoman. Jamie Thornock will fill the role of Secretary, with Sharon Backus as Treasurer and Deb Wolfley and Joe Heward as At-Large Members.

“I am honored to have been elected to serve as the Chairman of the Lincoln County Republican Party,” Oviatt told SVI News.

“The Wyoming Republican Party is dedicated to maintaining, protecting, and defending our unalienable rights to Life, Liberty, Property, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Plato said that, “The price of apathy is to be ruled by evil men,” and I also see one of the key responsibilities of our local party is to fight apathy by helping to inform others of our civic responsibility to protect those timeless values we hold in common. In order to further that mission, I believe the Party should be providing opportunities for like-minded people to come together and learn from one another. During my two year term I would hope to see our Party hold more events where we can hear from our elected officials. The recent Lincoln Day Dinner which was held in February was a great example of what I would hope to continue, as well as our traditional booth at the fair, candidate debates, and some new events like barbecues and informational forums. I would also like to see local groups of Young Republicans formed in our communities to help educate and inspire our rising generation. We are fortunate to have a long tradition in Lincoln County of civic service and I am humbled to be a small part of continuing that tradition. I look forward to serving with the other members of our Executive and Central Committees to keep the good work of the Republican Party moving forward.”
