Prescribed burns have been completed on 455 acres of the Bridger-Teton National Forest along the Star Valley Front during April.

The burning activity, completed in a mosaic pattern, was coordinated  as snow melted along the front.

As weather conditions permit, additional burns are planned this Spring. Area closures are not expected with these burns.

The B-T reports prescribed fire is used to reduce vegetation in order to assist with wildfire activities around the valley’s communities.

In addition, the new growth vegetation is more diverse and higher in protein to assist wildlife, including mule deer, elk and moose.

The B-T reminds Star Valley residents they continue to see smoke during these burns.
