
The 2024-25 high school rodeo season resumes this weekend with the kickoff of the spring schedule. Due to travel distances, Junior High and High School age students from Lincoln County and Bridger Valley compete inside of Idaho District 8, which includes the communities of Marsh Valley, Grace and Bear Lake. The spring schedule will kickoff with rodeos hosted by Marsh Valley, held in Pocatello, Idaho.
The full season includes four rodeos that were held in the fall and an additional four rodeos in the spring ahead of the District Finals. Points are tallied from both the fall and spring ahead of the District Finals, which will be held May 22-24 in Grace, Idaho. The Wyoming Athletes will host two rodeos at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds May 16 and 17. Other rodeos on the spring schedule include Caribou (Grace) May 2-3 and Bear Lake (Montpelier) May 9-10.
Local high school athletes that currently sit towards the top of the leader boards heading into the spring include Brooklyn Brown (Afton) who is in second place in Breakaway Roping, Bridget Scaffide (Alpine) who is in fifth place in Barrel Racing, Ross Hilton (Afton) and his roping partner Kruz Smith (Montpelier) are in first place in team roping followed by Case and Rider Kerr (Afton) in second place. Kutler Keetch (Cokeville) sits in fourth place in Tie Down Roping followed by Ryder Kerr (Afton) in fifth. Clay Teichert (Cokeville) is the only bull rider to have scored any points in the fall and currently sits in first place.
In the boys All Around, Ryder Kerr is in fifth place, one point ahead of Hilton in sixth with Case Kerr in seventh. On the girls side, Brooklyn Brown currently sits in seventh place in the All-Around.
