• Workforce Services invite businesses to participate, May 7 in Afton
Star Valley area businesses and organizations are invited to participate in a trades fair program designed to give high school age students and others insight into potential job and career opportunities.
The 2025 Star Valley Trades Fair will be held Wednesday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Afton Civic Center.
“A key focus of the fair is to connect students with local businesses and organizations in the trades,” Cami Cardon, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Dept. of Workforce Services told SVI Media. “This provides an invaluable opportunity for students to learn about potential summer jobs, apprenticeships, and future employment prospects right here in Wyoming.”
Cardon emphasized the importance of the fairs for future employment.
“These connections can lead to valuable work experience and potential career starts,” she said. “Many students may not be fully aware of the wide array of fulfilling and well-compensated careers available in the skilled trades.”
She added, “This fair will showcase various trades, broadening their understanding of potential future pathways beyond traditional four-year college degrees.”
Representatives from vocational training programs, apprenticeship opportunities, and Workforce Services will be at the Star Valley event to provide information and answer questions about educational pathways, required skills, and how to pursue a career in the trades.
Cardon sad, the Department of Workforce Services is committed to supporting the next generation of Wyoming’s workforce.
“We believe this Trades Fair will be an impactful event, opening doors for high school students to explore rewarding career opportunities in the skilled trades and find meaningful summer employment,” she emphasized. “We encourage all interested students to attend on [Wednesday] May 7th and discover the exciting possibilities that await.”
