Laura Tolman

Laura Tolman

On March 2, 1933, Laura Taylor Tolman was born to LaVivian Jensen Taylor and Albert Taylor in Afton, Wyoming, bringing light and joy to a family healing from recent loss.  Her vibrant spirit enriched the lives of all who knew her.

She spent her childhood roaming the pastures and dirt roads of Grover, Wyoming, with her siblings, Joy, Naomi, and Nolan.  At just 11 years old,she lost her father and, as the oldest sibling, stepped into a role of strength and responsibility, helping to care for her brother and sisters.

In time, Laura met the love of her life, Dallas Duane Tolman. They were married on August 10, 1948, in the Logan, Utah temple. They started their life together living and working on the Crow Creek Ranch, later moving to their home on Spring Creek, where they raised seven children.  Dallas and Laura taught them the value of hard work, the blessings of service, and the joy of life’s simple pleasures.

Laura faithfully served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Stake Relief Society Board, Fairview Relief Society President, and other various positions in the Primary and Young Women organizations.  She played a major role with the design and placement of the welcoming monument on the Fairview corner, an enduring symbol of her dedication to her community.

Since she married early, she didn’t have the opportunity to complete her high school courses with her class. Laura was always pleased that she earned her GED diploma. She had a great love of education and learning, and loved reading, especially  historical fiction.

After many years of hard work on the family ranch and dairy, Laura accepted a position at Hasting’s Gift Shop in Afton. She enjoyed working there for 30 years and retired at the age of 80. She spent her remaining years beautifying her home and surroundings, which brought her great pleasure.

Laura passed away in Fairview at the age of 92 on May 1, 2025, and is survived by her children: Ron Tolman (Sue), Diane Sanderson (Robert), Craig Tolman (Cathy), Kelly Tolman (Geniell), Valerie Jensen (Nolan), Teri Toland (Kim), and Irene Moser (Dave), as well as 22 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Duane, her four siblings, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Fairview Ward Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, south of Afton. The family will meet with friends from 9:30-10:45 AM, with the celebration of Laura’s life at 11 AM.  Laura will be laid to rest afterward at the Fairview Cemetery.

Dean Titensor

Roscoe Dean Titensor

Roscoe Dean Titensor passed away in Washington, Utah on April 25, 2025, at the age of 96.

Dean was born on January 20, 1929, in Etna, Wyoming to Roscoe Titensor and Elnor Bishop Titensor. He grew up in Star Valley as the eldest of seven children. He had a cherished childhood alongside his siblings: Verna, Marilyn, ElRay, Luana, Ellen, and Julia.

Dean graduated from Utah State University, where he met the love of his life, Gayla Stevens. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1953 and shared 69 wonderful years together before losing sweet Gayla in 2022. They lovingly raised 6 children, Steven (Geri), Carolanne (Mike), Thomas (Teri), David (Lisa), Amy (Dan) and Angela (Aaron).

Dean was a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He blessed the lives of so many through serving in various callings, including Bishop of the West Bountiful 8th Ward. As a young man, he served in the Eastern States Mission and later in life, he served four more missions with his sweetheart, Gayla.

Dean was also an avid Indexer and had a goal of indexing 500,000 entries before he died. He ended up finishing over 750,000.

Dean traveled all over the world as he served in the Air Force, his missions and work experience. During his career, he contributed to the construction of various buildings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including a remodel of the Laie Hawaii Temple. As missionaries, Dean and Gayla oversaw the building of the Adalaide Australia Temple which they considered a distinct blessing and was one of their cherished life experiences.

Dean was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His memory will be cherished by his six children and their spouses, 32 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and his one great-great-granddaughter, soon to be born in May. Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gayla; his parents, Roscoe and Elnor; siblings, Verna, ElRay, and Luana. He was also preceded in death by his son, Tom.

He had three goals before he left us:

1-Matching his grandpa Bishop’s age of 96.

2-Be here when his son, Steve, and daughter-in-law, Geri, return home from their mission.

3-Get a 5-generation picture once his first great-great grandbaby was born (in May 2025).

Two out of three is pretty good.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Orchard Drive Ward Building, 115 East Wicker Lane, Bountiful, Utah. Visit with the family in a receiving line from 10:00-10:45.
