Gov. Mark Gordon, First Lady Jennie Gordon, and Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman, Maj. Gen. Greg Porter, the Adjutant General of Wyoming, and Veterans Commission Chairman Ken Persson were among those traveling to Star Valley Saturday Morning for the “Wyoming Veteran’s Welcome Home Day.”

“It is my honor to say, thank you and welcome home,” the governor said as he signed a formal proclamation. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart and wanted to be here to sign the proclamation.”

Congresswoman Hageman added, “We acknowledge those returning from Korea and Vietnam,” she said, also noting other services. “I have the privilege of having a constituency with so many brave men and women who have dedicated themselves to the service of the United States of America.”

The “Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day” on Saturday, was codified into Wyoming Law during  the 61st Legislative Session in 2011.

Noting Saturday’s stop in Star Valley, in an earlier statement,  the governor’s office and Veteran’s Commission reported, “All Wyoming veterans, especially those from the Vietnam War, Korean War, and other veterans who were not properly thanked upon their return home, are invited to attend and receive the welcome and thanks of a grateful state.”

Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4797 District 4 Commander and Navy Veteran Jerry Lainhart helped host and coordinated the visit at the Afton National Guard Readiness Center.

Additional stops that day included Riverton, Sheridan and Wheatland.
