Students at Osmond Elementary School (OES) enjoyed a hands-on educational assembly outdoors on Monday, when “Air Idaho Rescue” visited the school with their Air Ambulance helicopter staffed by two air medics and a pilot.
Kristi Allred, parent to OES student, Harper Allred, “works with the team and was willing to coordinate the visit,” said OES Principal Tyler Jack in an email to SVI Media on Monday. “The students were able to go out on the grass and watch the helicopter come in and land at the school.”
Students were up close and personal with the team, who closer “took time to share with our students’ examples of when an air ambulance might be needed.” Each student was able to view the interior of the craft while the air ambulance rescue team shared information and answered “dozens” of questions about the aircraft and their jobs.
“They took two students and dressed one up as a medic, and then the other as a patient,” said Jack. “They showed the students how they load patients and how they serve patients’ medical needs in the helicopter as well as what equipment they use. This was a very fun event.”
