• Final stakeholder meeting May 28
Lincoln County is moving forward with a master transportation plan, holding a series of public meetings late in 2024 and early 2025.
The plan was first announced in September of 2024 when Avenue Consultants met with town, county and federal officials at introduction meetings in Kemmerer and Star Valley.
At the first meeting, Thomas McMurtry, with the Avenue Team told SVI Media, “We’re focusing on the road network, cars, trucks, bikes and walking — everything that encompasses transportation in Lincoln County.”
He said “all of the elements” will be studied to come up with a comprehensive plan for Lincoln County.
Amy Butler, Lincoln County Engineer, said the initial plan has been prepared as part of the public meeting process.
“We currently have a draft of the Transportation Plan,” she explained. “We’ve recently completed our second open house for public comments, which provided valuable feedback that we are now reviewing.”
The county engineer said meetings for other stakeholder’s will be held at the end of May. “The next step in the process is another stakeholder’s meeting scheduled for next Wednesday, May 28,” she said. “During this meeting, we will review the draft plan in detail with key stakeholders.”
After reviewing the plan with the towns and other stakeholders, the county commissioners will be presented with the plan and potential approval through resolution.
With commission approval, the Planning Office will begin the process of incorporating the transportation master plan into the Lincoln County Comprehensive Plan.
“Throughout the development of this plan, both the towns within Lincoln County and the State of Wyoming have been actively involved,” Butler reported. “All data, findings, and the final plan itself will be shared among all relevant entities to ensure coordinated efforts in transportation planning and development.”
