Afton businesses invited to brighten Main Street with summer display contest

Downtown Afton will soon see a splash of color as local businesses prepare for the upcoming “Main Street in Bloom” event, organized by the Afton Main Street Alliance in partnership with Outlaw T’s of Star Valley. The event aims to enhance the town’s historic Main Street through creative, flower-filled displays while encouraging community engagement and increased foot traffic for local shops.

Registration for the contest is open through Friday, June 6. Participating businesses must have their displays ready by Saturday, June 7, with judging scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 8.

As of earlier this week, seven businesses have signed up to take part in the event. These include Outlaw Ts, The Bank of Star Valley, Sunrise Engineering, Salt River Meat Co, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Peak BJJ & Kickboxing, and Engel & Völkers Star Valley.

According to organizers, “Main Street in Bloom” is more than just a decorative contest—it supports downtown commerce. Creative storefront displays attract attention from those passing by.

“It’s a fun way to get businesses involved and brighten up our community for residents and visitors,” says Paige Alise.

Participation is simple: businesses sign up online, decorate their storefronts with flowers or summer-themed designs, and have their display ready for the judging on June 8. Community members will also be encouraged to visit Main Street, view the displays, and shop local.

The winner of the contest will be featured on the Afton Main Street Alliance’s social media.

Why should shoppers visit? Simple. Whether you’re running errands, grabbing lunch, or exploring with family, the decorated storefronts add a festive, summer atmosphere to the experience at the beginning of the summer season. The family-friendly outing will help show the efforts of local business and their efforts to continue to be a part of the community in simple, fun ways.

It’s also an ideal time to discover new businesses you may not regularly visit, while also supporting the local economy.
