Peter Visser is heading to the NCAA track and field championships. Visser qualified for the NCAA meet in the 3,000-meter steeplechase following his performance at the NCAA West First Round meet Friday in College Station, Texas.
It’s his second NCAA Championship appearance this academic year as he also competed in the NCAA’s in cross country.
Visser finished 12th overall in the steeplechase on Friday afternoon with a time of 8:40.17. He was third in his heat, with the top three automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Earlier this year, Visser posted a career-best time of 8:35.98 in the event at the Stanford Invitational. That time currently ranks as the fifth-best in Weber State history. Visser also set a school record in the 5,000 meters this season.
The junior from Afton, Wyoming, finished second in the steeplechase and the 5,000 meters at the Big Sky Championships earlier in May in Sacramento.
The NCAA Championships will be held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.
