Firefighters Respond to Porcupine Fire

According to information provided by the Bridger-Teton National Forest, firefighters are on the scene of what is being termed the Porcupine Fire which is located near Smoot just off Cottonwood Creed Road, approximately three-quarters of a mile into Porcupine Creek.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A type 2 helicopter, fire engine, and ground personnel are currently on scene actively working to suppress the fire. More resources are being ordered. Public and firefighter safety are the top priorities during suppression efforts.

The Porcupine Fire is burning in grass, sage, and light timber fuels. Officials have stated that the public does not need to report any visible smoke.
