Taylor Ward, the Project Manager for the expansion of the Lincoln County District Court in Kemmerer, spoke to SVI Media’s Dan Dockstader following the groundbreaking ceremony held Tuesday morning.
A full transcript of the interview can be found below.
(0:00) SBI with Taylor Ward, he’s project manager of exactly what are we calling this expansion here (0:06) at the Justice Center. It becomes essentially headquarters for judicial system. (0:11) Exactly.
So thank you, sir. This is going to be the Lincoln County District Court (0:17) project or the District Court addition. So an expansion to the existing building.
(0:25) It’s about an 18,000 square foot expansion to the building. It’s creating a larger (0:31) district court for years to come for future growth and future expansion. (0:37) We’re meeting growth in Southwest Wyoming with us.
(0:39) Yes. (0:40) Tell us about what went into putting this project together and working with Lincoln County (0:43) and the court system. (0:45) Yeah.
So it’s been, as Commissioner, I believe mentioned right before the groundbreaking, (0:50) this has been many years in the making and coming to get to this point. We’ve been working (0:55) with GSBS Architects, who’s a phenomenal partner of ours in designing this over the last roughly (1:03) year to design this project. And it was a design build collaborating with them to come together (1:12) with the Lincoln County team to pick the color selections and really tailor it to your guys’ (1:18) needs and what Judge Blumel and Kent and everyone is needing to accommodate their needs.
(1:26) I also understand that. So what’s the time frame that we put this all together? (1:30) So we’ve been working, like I said, about the last eight to nine months together in the design (1:35) build process with the groundbreaking of July 15th. And then it’s got a roughly a year time frame (1:46) for the completion of this project.
(1:48) So about a year out from now. (1:50) About a year out from now. Yes.
(1:51) What haven’t we asked you you’d like to tell us about this project? (1:55) I think it’s got some very selective finishes inside that kind of tailor towards the fossil (2:04) county. We know this is fossil county, basically, or the fossil county of the capital of the world. (2:12) So we selected some finishes and some stone that really highlights and accents the natural (2:19) feel of buildings.
So I think you’ll see from the renderings and as the county comes and sees what (2:27) this building is going to look like, that the finishes that are selected really represent (2:32) how Lincoln County and Wyoming, just how they’re viewed on the map. (2:37) Very good. Taylor Ward, overseeing this project in camera today, SBI Media, (2:43) at what will become the seat of the judicial system for Cameron Southwest Wyoming.
