City of Kemmerer asks residents to help control thistle

This City of Kemmerer is asking residents to help control thistle. In a statement released Friday morning, Mayor Robert Bowen asked all property owners to take immediate steps to remove or treat thistles on their land, saying that tackling them now helps prevent widespread seeding, protects your neighbors’ properties and keeps Kemmerer looking its best.

“The City is doing its best to manage thistle growth on public property, but with limited staff and resources, we truly rely on everyone doing their part. Your help makes a real difference,” said Bowen.

Mayor Bowen continued by saying “Our Code Enforcement Team will continue to issue friendly warnings for minor infractions, but starting this month, citations will be issued for repeat and significant violations. This step is necessary to ensure fairness and to keep invasive thistle growth under control across the city and will be done in accordance with Kemmerer City Code Chapter 14.”

“Let’s work together to stay ahead of this and keep Kemmerer clean, healthy, and welcoming to everyone,” Mayor Bowen concluded. “Thank you for your cooperation and for helping take pride in our community.”
