Late September and October Flu Shot Clinics, hosted by Lincoln County Public Health (LCPH), will be held throughout Star Valley and surrounding Lincoln County to better prepare the public for flu season.
The public is encouraged to attend. Those who come in are asked to bring your insurance cards with them. “Blood pressures should be monitored and checked regularly,” said Madison Wilkes of Lincoln County Public Health. “We want people to know their numbers—what’s normal for them—or discover if there’s an underlying condition that needs attention.” She added that blood pressure checks are also available at Public Health offices, and even blood pressure kits can be checked out from the office or local libraries.
Although LCPH offeres blood pressure checks in-office, they are happy to check anyone who comes to one of the clinics scheduled.
While the focus is on flu prevention, residents can also request non-flu vaccines at the clinics by calling ahead. Common options include Tdap, Shingles, RSV, Pneumonia, and Hepatitis A & B, with COVID vaccines possible pending federal approval. “We ask that people call and request these specific vaccines before the clinic, so we can order and pack appropriately and screen clients for the need/demand, where they are not given on the annual basis. Also, you can come to our offices for these vaccines as well.”
LCPH services are not just vaccinations. The department provides maternal and child health programs, car seat checks, sharps disposal, naloxone and fentanyl test kits, STI and hepatitis testing, tuberculosis screenings, colorectal cancer FIT tests, travel vaccines, and emergency response services, among others. They also partner with the Wyoming Health Fairs for blood draws and wellness screenings, with the next blood draws scheduled for October 8 and December 10.
