Star Valley High School’s Marching Braves traveled to Rexburg last Saturday to compete at the Madison Invite Marching Band Competition.  Competing in the 4A division, the band scored only 7.85 points under the 1st place 4A band.

“The Marching Braves had an excellent showing at the Madison Invite,” said Kurt Sand, SVHS Band Director.  Competing in 4A division, Star Valley finished 4th place in 4A, and 5th place overall.  The Marching Braves were the only band at the event that was not from Idaho. Invite scoring was very tight at the top with only 7.85 points separating the overall first place from Star Valley’s fifth place score.

“Our competition this past weekend was a great experience, and we had a lot of fun participating,” said the Marching Braves Student Leadership Team. “It gave us valuable feedback from the judges on areas we can improve before State. With the time we have between now and then, we’re confident we can focus on those key details and take our show to the next level.”

Folks can enjoy the band’s full festival show this Friday during halftime at the Homecoming Game. The band will also present their show at their annual “Friends and Family” performance on Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. in the main gym of the high school.

“I am very proud of their effort,” said Sand. “We are in a great position with three weeks to go before our State Competition in Casper on October 18 at the Ford Wyoming Center.
