Silver Star is proud to announce the upcoming launch of its newest development in the city of Afton. The project is titled “Smart Town” and promises to bring FREE community Wi-Fi to the city. This project will go live this Saturday at the Oktoberfest celebration in Downtown Afton. This launch is the result of a partnership with the city that aims to improve roaming connectivity for every resident.

“The Main Street corridor has had historically poor connection for cellphones. So, we partnered with the city to find a solution that is seamless and augments what cell phone carriers provide.” Said Silver Star’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jeff England.

This community Wi-Fi network is a secure and authenticated connection that allows residents to access internet services uninterrupted with just one sign-in. Once you are connected you will auto-connect when in service range without needing another sign-in, allowing for effortless and fluid connection while on the go. This project will give the city of Afton an improved roaming connection and range compared to other public network options and allow residents to spend time in or pass through downtown Afton with uninterrupted service.

At launch, service will be available in Afton City Park and on the stretch of main street between 4th Avenue and West 5th Avenue. Plans to expand the project across the city are underway!
