The Town of Afton is excited to announce the near completion of several important projects as the busy summer season winds down. Town Administrator Violet Sanderson shared in a Weekday Wake-up interview, “We are just about completely wrapped up with our sewer lagoon project. It looks great down there, and we’re excited to put the final touches on it.”

In addition to the sewer project, Sanderson highlighted ongoing road maintenance efforts, ensuring the town is ready for winter. “We’ve also been working on a new 97,000-gallon surge tank at the intermittent spring,” she explained. “These improvements are crucial for maintaining our infrastructure and ensuring the safety of our water supply.”

Afton is not only focused on infrastructure but also on fostering community spirit. “We’ve had a lot of traffic to the star, and I love seeing pictures on social media of everyone enjoying the view from up there,” Sanderson shared. “When our football team wins, we light it up in celebration. It’s just one of those fun ways to bring the community together.”

Sanderson acknowledged the contributions of Julie Hardy, the beloved manager of the Valley View Golf Course pro shop, who will be leaving after nearly seven years of dedicated service. “Julie is key to keeping things running smoothly at the golf course. If you see her, just give her some love and let her know how much we appreciate her,” Sanderson said.

With projects nearing completion and community events on the horizon, Afton is gearing up for an exciting fall. Sanderson’s enthusiasm is infectious as she invites residents to join in the festivities. “We have a lot of great things happening in Afton, and we’re really excited for the future,” she concluded.
