The board of trustees for Lincoln County School District No. 2 met on October 8 for a regular session. Here are some of the items that were discussed.
Superintendent Erickson stated that enrollment for the district is down 48 students from this same time a year ago and down 162 students from this time three years ago. He also noted that this was the first time the district had experienced four consecutive months of under 2,900 students since 2008.
Nate Westcott reported plans for the district to honor area veterans during Veterans Day on November 11. A full schedule of assemblies will be available in the November 5, 2025 edition of the newspaper.
The board recognized awards given to area student-athletes from the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA). They included Ruby Hill from Star Valley Volleyball, Hallie Hokanson from Star Valley Volleyball and Rachel Thomas from Cokeville Volleyball.
A short report on the unified calendar discussion was made, stating that there would be no vote on the calendar in the meeting and that the plan was to produce information for the Superintendent for the November meeting. Superintendent Erickson asked the board for their direction on this topic which would be for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 calendars. This direction from the board to the superintendent would be for either a four-day hybrid or five-day calendar.
Warren Hicks reported on the facilities within the district including several items to address before the snow arrives. These items included blowing out the sprinkler systems, installing the Osmond Elementary lunch tables in November and testing and repairing heating systems.
Hicks also provided an update on the updates for the Transportation Building which was part of a MCER study, who’ll have an architect proposal within a week and would be available before the next board meeting.
Work on an expanded discus area was presented which will be located near the SVHS track.
Superintendent Erickson highlighted Sue Helm for receiving an award as she was named the Food Service Director of the Year from the state. Erickson added that Helm had nominated one of her employees who was also named the Food Service Employee of the Year.
