SVI Radio Interview: Julie Adams, Afton Main Street Alliance
SVI Media’s Dan Dockstader spoke with Julie Adams, Secretary with the Afton Main Street Alliance, regarding a recent community meeting held at the Afton Civic Center and the future of the alliance.
(0:00) SBI Media with Julie Adams today. She’s secretary of the Main Street Alliance. Julie, tell us about (0:06) what you accomplished at this Afton Main Street event tonight here at the Afton Civic Center.
(0:12) Hi, thank you so much for having me. Tonight we joined with the Afton Town Council and the Afton (0:18) Tourism Board to host a community meeting to share what is going on in our community, (0:24) what does the Tourism Board and the Town Council and the Main Street Alliance have in place, (0:30) and what are we looking to grow, and what are some of the problems and solutions that we have (0:36) been discussing to increase opportunities for connection in our community. And I was (0:41) thrilled that so many people showed up tonight.
We can hear by the crowd in the background. Yes, (0:46) we had over 40 people attend tonight with wonderful insight and positive feedback and (0:55) solutions represented, and we’re just so appreciative for all the opportunity. (1:00) Where would you like to see it go in the future? You’re talking about more meetings, (1:03) another one coming up in February.
Where do you want to see the Afton Main Street Alliance go after (1:07) this? Afton Main Street Alliance has four pillars which are all designed to promote community (1:14) connection and positive events that increase the vibrance and inviting atmosphere. And so we would (1:22) like more opportunities to collaborate with local businesses and groups and churches and anybody (1:31) with positive ideas to increase the community connection and vibrance of our community. We (1:39) would love to have you attend our board meetings.
Also, we work with the Tourism Board and the Town (1:45) Council, and so we invite you to attend our meetings, follow us on social media, connect with (1:52) us, and be on the lookout for additional resources that we are going to be providing. Okay, Julie (1:59) Adams, Afton Main Street Alliance, Dan Doxton, RSBI Media.
