The Lincoln County School District #2 Board of Trustees met in their regularly scheduled meeting on December 3. Here are a few items from this meeting. The full stream of the meeting can be found at lcsd2.org.
Mr. J.C. Inskeep addressed the board with a financial update. Mr. Inskeep noted that the district is in a positive net position with buildings and assets valued at approximately $127 million.
Superintendent Matt Erickson gave an enrollment update for the district. The number of enrolled students is down 17 from one month ago and down 64 from a year ago at this same time.
The board received several donations to be used for Star Valley Middle School girls wrestling warmups. Chairman Simpson noted that the donations ranged from $200 to $600.
Two volleyball students were recognized for sportsmanship awards from the Wyoming High School Activities Association. Those students were Madaline Dayton from Cokeville and Hallie Hokanson from Star Valley.
Several procedures were addressed for the district including the recognition of a continued bus route for a three-and-a-half mile stretch near Geneva, the prohibition of the decorating of busses.
It was noted that sanctioned trips must go through the district filing system and one of the three activity directors within the district.
A name change for the Alpine Phillips 66 station was noted with the explanation that there are two community stops in Alpine at this location and at the Ace Hardware.
In personnel, several resignations were read including Star Valley Middle School Principal Steve Birch who will resign at the end of the school year.
The first reading of the hybrid calendar was approved. A second reading must take place before the calendar will go into effect.
During the facilities update, Mr. Warren Hicks reported that the Major maintenance/Capital construction list will be closed December 15, 2025 with building meetings to be conducted the week of the 15th. During that time, the list will be narrowed down following the Christmas break and a preliminary list will be available for review by the January meeting.
