Fundraisers support local family following shooting

An auction held on Facebook is raising money to support a local family from Grover. The group “Love for the Lilly’s” ends this Sunday, December 21 with proceeds helping pay for funeral expenses and bills.

“We would love to help Gina and her family get back on their feet,” reads the description of the group. “Chazz was an amazing friend, who always had a smile. HIs love for his family was shown deeply. He will be missed.”

Members of the community can join the group and then donate and/or bid. Items up for auction include everything from home baked goods, services and products from local businesses and other miscellaneous items. Funds from winning bidders will be gathered through Venmo or cash through Charlotte Parsons, a family friend.

“Chazz would’ve given you the shirt off his back, that’s just the type of person he was. No questions asked,” said Parsons. “Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out to Gina, and their five children. At this time we are giving them their privacy and would ask that you do the same as they’re navigating through this tragedy.”

Charlotte created the Facebook auction after a shooting incident on the night of December 9. According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a 911 call in Grover. “Deputies made contact with an adult female victim and her four children after they fled the home,” stated a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. “An eight-year-old child had sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Star Valley Health where she was treated and released.”

Police later found Lilly inside the home deceased from “what appeared to be a self-inflicted injury.” As of December 11, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said they are continuing the investigation into the incident.

In addition to the Facebook auction, there are other ways to donate to the family. Star Valley Ski-Doo in Thayne is holding a raffle for a snowblower. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by calling Star Valley Ski-Doo at (307) 883-2714 or in person at 622 N. Main in Thayne. Charlotte said people are also welcome to drop by gift cards to local businesses or submit payments on the families behalf to Silver Star or Lower Valley Energy. Cash donations can also be sent through Venmo @Charlotte-Parsons-5. “I’m happy to meet up with them to collect whatever they would like to donate,” stated Parsons, who can be reached at (307) 248-2665. The Facebook auction can be found by searching for “Love for the Lilly’s.”
