A mix of several factors have combined to contribute to conditions on Greys River Road that makes it potentially dangerous to use according to Tim Haberberger who described the recreational road as “treacherous ”
Tim Haberberger with the Box Y Lodge called into the Weekday Wake-Up on Thursday, December 18 with a report on current conditions on Greys River Road.
“The trail is treacherous,” he said. “The first seven miles out of Alpine is a solid sheet of ice. It’s very hard to manuvouer on it with anything. We’re scheduled to open, but nobody needs to come up that trail right now If we get a couple inches of snow on top of that it will be really bad because people won’t know what’s under that snow. I’ve never seen it this bad before.”
Haberberger noted that once to the Little Greys there is very little traction but that regardless of a snowmobile or a side-by-side, it is not a good time to be on the road.
“We will open but nobody needs to get on that trail, until we get some substantial snow,” he added. “You could end up in the river, your snowmobile will go where it wants to go. The snow will come, it always does. It’s just late this year.”
