CHEYENNE (WNE) — U.S. Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., on Thursday endorsed U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., to be her successor in the Senate.
“I’m so proud to endorse my good friend, and a real workhorse for Wyoming, Harriet Hageman for the United States Senate,” Lummis said in a news release. “Having worked side by side with Harriet over these past few years, I’ve seen first hand her dedication to our state and her tireless work ethic. Together, we’ve fought to deliver real results for Wyoming families, pushed back against Washington overreach from the Biden administration, and championed an America First agenda that helps Wyoming workers.
“Harriet is one of the most prepared and engaged people I know — she never backs down from a fight and never stops working for the people of Wyoming. I have no doubt she’ll be an outstanding Senator. I’m proud to join President Trump in endorsing her in this vital race.”
Hageman on Thursday issued the following statement regarding the endorsement by Lummis: “For most of her adult life — almost five decades — Cynthia Lummis has devoted her energy, effort, and intelligence to fighting for the people of Wyoming, and our state is much better for it,” she wrote. “As she retires from the Senate, it is a high honor for me to receive her endorsement as I ask the people of our wonderful state for support to follow her in that office.
“Sen. Lummis has been a champion for our private property rights, our abilities to access our own natural resources, and for any federal regulations to be compatible with common sense. I plan to stand up for those same principles in the Senate, just as I have done in the House. I thank my dear friend for her service, and for her support.”
