Bonneville and Lincoln County officials respond to Freedom area
According to information from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are currently investigating an incident on Jackknife Rd. across the border of Freedom in Bonneville County. Deputies were called to the area just after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning after receiving a 911 call about a disturbance with possible weapons involved.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team was activated and also responded to the area along with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Star Valley Ambulance.
According to information reported by EastIdahoNews.com through Bonneville County Sheriff Sgt. Bryan Lovell, officials are investigating a “domestic-related disturbance” that resulted in multiple deaths.
Currently the scene is safe and there is no danger to the public. Lincoln County Sheriff Shane Johnson clarified to SVI Media that at no point was there a “Shelter in Place” order given.
Thayne Elementary School implemented a “Secure” status briefly on Wednesday morning as a precautionary measure but that was lifted shortly thereafter according to LCSD #2. The district sent out a message through their Infinite Campus platform noting that “some families living along the Idaho border may have received an emergency alert.”
While detectives investigate the incident, Jackknife Rd. is closed from State Line Rd. at the Wyoming border to the west.
