The Town of Alpine’s annual Winter Jubilee is happening this weekend. Families are invited to various activities throughout the two-day event, and proceeds from the culminating activity, Casino Night, go towards scholarships for 2026 graduating high school seniors.
“This event was created in large part to facilitate our community members coming together to enjoy some fun activities to distract us during our long winters,” said Melody Leseberg, representing the Town of Alpine. “We also use this as an opportunity to provide scholarships to our local youths.”
Serving as a scholarship fundraiser since 2013, the Winter Jubilee allows the Town of Alpine to offer scholarships to graduating seniors who live in the northern end of Star Valley, specifically Alpine, Etna and properties between the two communities.
The Jubilee kicks off Friday evening at 5 p.m. with a Hot Dog Roast at the Alpine civic center gazebo. A favorite feature of the weekend follows at 6:00 with a traditional island fire dancing presentation by Lava Flow Fire from Lava Hot Springs. “This is the second year we have had the fire dancers perform and they are the perfect fit for our event,” said Leseberg. Folks can enjoy a family movie, “King of Kings” in the Civic Center that evening at 7:00. Padded chairs are available on site, but guests are encouraged to bring their own comfortable seat.
Saturday’s activities are offered on the American Legion Ball Field from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with fun for guests of every age. Children can enjoy sledding, winter games, and a smore’s bar. Everyone is also invited to participate in the 10th Annual Coney Classic Skijoring and Dog Party. “The Coney Classic, sponsored by Alpine Trails and Pathways, is joining us this year for their final year of holding the event,” said Leseberg. “It will be held in conjunction with the Children’s activities at the American Legion ball field.” Snow Box Sculptures will not be offered this year due to the lack of snow.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evening for the Casino Night, which is the capstone activity for the entire Winter Jubilee. Everyone 21 and older is invited to participate. The cost is $40 to purchase a bag of chips, which includes one $25.00 chip and 25 $1.00 chips, one grand prize raffle ticket and 25 general raffle tickets. Casino games such as Blackjack, Roulette and Poker are open to participants. Raffle items have been donated from local businesses and individuals. Guests can place their tickets in the jar associated with each raffle item.
“If you haven’t been out to Casino Night yet, this is your year,” Leseberg said. “Food and drinks are available for purchase, and at the end of gaming, your casino chips are cashed in for raffle prize tickets. The better you are at gaming, the more chances you will have to go home with a raffle prize. We have amazing raffle prizes donated by local businesses, and we also have three grand prizes and a couple of silent auction items during the evening. We encourage you to come out and see what Alpine’s Winter Jubilee has to offer!”
All events are free except for Casino night. Preregistration is not necessary for any event.
