Osmond Elementary (OES) and Afton Elementary (AES) Schools battled for the 2026 “Soup” er Bowl trophy February 2-6, with OES taking back the beloved trophy. This year’s food drive collected more food than ever before in the history of the competition, requiring more than one full bus to transport all goods to the Afton Food Pantry.
“I couldn’t be prouder of our students, families, and staff for stepping up, working together, and supporting such an important cause,” said AES Principal, Danny Robinson. “This friendly competition was a win for both schools and our community, especially the families who will benefit from the food collected.”
As the food pantry specifically requested cereal from this food drive, “touchdown” points were awarded to either school each time a specific tote was filled with cereal bags or boxes. Additional foods provided extra points.
Osmond’s winning score totaled 546 points with Afton close behind at 493 points. In friendly banter, Robinson promised that AES will “be back next season stronger, hungrier, and ready for kickoff.”
Students and staff embraced the challenge of this “friendly, and spirited, competition that combines school pride with service to our community,” said Tyler Jack, OES Principal. “The victory was celebrated with a school parade featuring music, cookies, and Hunter Warren proudly carrying the trophy.”
“Leave it to Afton and Osmond Elementary to turn friendly competition into overflowing cereal shelves,” said Sierra Mitchell, Director of the Afton Food Pantry. “Thanks to strong principals, competitive staff, and generous students and families, our top-needed item came pouring in—and local families will feel the impact for months (maybe even years)!”
