Lady Braves roll to 4th straight team title; Aullman and Andrews win 2nd championships

The Lady Braves led wire to wire at the Wyoming State Wrestling Championships as they claimed their fourth straight team title with a total of 167.5 team points. Green River was second with 110.5 and Powell was third with 100.5.
In the four seasons of sanctioned girls high school wrestling in Wyoming, the Star Valley program has set the bar and that continued to be the case over the weekend as the Lady Braves had three finalists, two champions and seven place winners. In team had a total of 12 wrestlers who contributed to the team total.
Individually two returning champs were looking for a second title and both succeeded. Remington Aullman pinned her way through the tournament, capping off a back-to-back title run at 135 pounds with a pin over Mountain View’s McKayla Lym in the first period (1:17).
She also became a four-time placer and a three-time All-State recipient as she finished her senior season with a record of 38-2. Aullman is the daughter of three-time SVHS champion Nick Aullman.
Cara Andrews became the program’s first four-time All-State recipient as she advanced to the finals at 145 pounds. Andrews won a title in her sophomore season and added another over the weekend with pin of Sheridan’s Dani Grooms (2:41). Andrews also collected four pins through her tournament run to a second individual championship.
Senior Brooke Schwab (170) advanced to the finals and earned All-State and a runner-up finish after a finals loss to Cody’s Ashten Hubbs. Schwab wrapped her high school career as a three-time state placer.
Carlee Angell (105) battled her way back to a third place finish after a sudden victory loss in the semifinals to Peyton Arnhold of Shoshoni. Angell edged Saratoga’s Penelope Anderson 8-7 in the third place match. Oakley Hepworth (130), Paisley Harbach (140) and Afton Hunting (155) all placed fifth.
Of the state qualifiers, those who are eligible to return next season include Constance Peterson (100), Angell (105), Keladrey Johnson (110), Sophia Bauer (125), Hepworth (130), Harbach (140), Settelly Roberts (145), Hunting (155), O’Reilly Morris (190) and Sara Sanderson (235).
