“It has been a great blessing in my life to have the opportunity to come to Wyoming,” Thomas Deering said just after taking the oath of office as the new Circuit Court Judge for the Wyoming Third Judicial District Friday, Mar. 20 at the Lincoln County Justice Center in Kemmerer.
“I have traveled and explored and had adventures across this state,” he offered as he recalled the time he has worked with the judicial system in southwest Wyoming. “I’ve enjoyed the friendly people, the beautiful landscapes and the wonderful communities throughout.”
Judge Deering then acknowledged the residents of the two counties he will be serving for the Third Judicial District.
“To the people I’ve know in Sweetwater County, no one could ask for better friends and colleagues, mentors and role models. It has been a joy to live and work with you for the past 14 years,” he said.
“To the people of Lincoln County I am greatly appreciative of the opportunity to serve you as part of the Wyoming Judicial Branch. I have been overwhelmed by the sincere earnest welcome I have received throughout both north and south Lincoln County.”
As part of his closing comments to a packed courtroom Judge Deering advised, “I will work hard to uphold the trust Gov. Gordon has shown me with the appointment and to be the best judge I can be.”
