Good morning. How are you today? I’m good.
How are you doing? (0:27) Well, appreciate you stepping in studio. No, you’ve been really looking forward to this. I love being (0:33) Well, I appreciate you doing it congratulations on being business of the month (0:37) I think the reason the chamber chose you is because of the great products and services you offer (0:41) But man you have taken a building that really needed some help and really needed a mainstay (0:47) Downtown business in Thane and you’ve done exactly (0:50) Exactly that so let’s let’s talk history of silo floral (0:54) You’ve been around longer than what you’ve been in your current location, right? Sure.
And actually when I was down in Logan (1:00) I had a shop for seven years swore. I would never open another one and (1:06) Six years later. Here we are.
That’s fantastic. And so what do you love most about being in the floral business? Oh (1:13) So many things just all the different events that we get to do (1:17) Weddings (1:19) Funerals birthdays and just people coming into the shop and meeting new people is always a good time. Absolutely (1:26) So talk to us about the the transition from going from your shop and Logan (1:30) I believe you were in Afton for a little bit, right? (1:33) Correct, correct (1:33) And then and then what what led you to your current location in Thane? (1:38) Honestly before I ever moved here I I that building (1:41) I always I always look at buildings and see the potential in them and that was one that I (1:45) Had my eye on for quite a while and just approach them, you know (1:50) Seeing if they would sell it taking a chance and he was like sure and I was like, oh crap now we have to do this (1:57) No, you’re committed.
Well, I mean for those that have been in the valley for a long time (2:01) They’ll remember that as the original maverick in thing. I mean that’s going back a while, but it’s been a pharmacy (2:06) It’s been a pop. I mean, it’s been a soda fountain (2:08) I mean, it’s been a real estate office (2:10) And so what have you done to that building to make it your own and make it silo floral? (2:15) Well, we brought on the green bins onto the property and have you know goals and plans with those eventually (2:22) Doing a little potting shed in one a little co-op (2:25) it’d be awesome if somebody wants to jump on board and bring in local produce and (2:29) Fruits and head that up.
It’d be awesome to have that on our property (2:34) Inside the building just you know, the fresh paint new floors (2:39) windows (2:39) Those kind of things perfect love it (2:42) Studio in studio this morning is Shannon Cowan with silo floral the Star Valley Chamber of Commerce April business of the month (2:48) So your products and services obviously a florist. What do you provide to the community? Sure (2:53) so started out just as flowers and (2:56) Turned it into gifts home goods co-op (3:00) Try and support as much local as possible. We have Shumway farms in there Yates and GOM (3:06) Their micro greens local honey and jam (3:09) Product from the meat block square farms fresh sourdough bread each week (3:15) and one of the fun things about that is people from the (3:20) Alpine area at Nathane even don’t have to drive all the way down to Shumway farms to get their ice cream (3:26) Love it (3:27) And so you have a lot of products from around the whole valley (3:29) It sounds like people can go to silo floral and get yep local artists (3:34) Unique gifts.
Yep. Try and support everybody local. Perfect.
I love that (3:39) Where’s the best place to do you have a website social media presence that kind of stuff outside of your location? (3:46) Facebook and Instagram as of now perfect. Well, you’re doing fantastic things (3:51) Shannon anything else about silo floral that you’d like to mention while we have you today (3:55) I’m just super grateful for all of the support that everybody gives it’s so nice to meet new people every day (4:02) And yeah, just again the support is amazing.
