The SVHS soccer teams were dropped right into the boiling pot of conference play as they traveled to Casper to face Kelly Walsh and Natrona County over the weekend.
On Friday, the Lady Braves fell to the Trojans 10-0 and then lost the following morning to the Fillies by the same 10-0 score. Coach Jessica Bagley noted the team had a very positive first half against Kelly Walsh.
“We were very excited about the first half we had on Friday,” she responded. “We held them 1-0 for the first 30 minutes of the game and their goal came from a free kick. Our girls controlled the ball and made great passes. After that we lost gas and fell apart. Friday at Natrona we didn’t play as a team, and were also very tired.”
Bagley reported that sophomore keeper, Bella Beck had approximately 30 saves in each match.
“The focus [to] take away is how well we did against KW,” she added. “If we can stay healthy and get more fit our girls are gonna do some awesome things this season.”
On the boys side, the Braves lost to the #2 Trojans 4-0 before dropping the Saturday game 4-1 to the Mustangs.
The SVHS soccer teams will be in Sweetwater County as they wrap up their final matches before Spring Break. The teams will be in Rock Springs on Thursday with matches at 3 and 5 p.m. and then back to Green River on Saturday with matches at 11 and 1 p.m.
The first home matches of the season will take place on April 9, as Star Valley hosts Evanston with matches scheduled for 4 and 6 p.m.
