The SVHS soccer teams are back in action this week which is highlighted by the first home matches of the season at Braves Field. Both the boys and girls teams have started the season 0-4 but will face Evanston this Thursday, with programs that are currently 0-3.
The Lady Braves will host the Red Devils at 4 p.m. which will be followed by the Braves and Evanston at 6 p.m. SVI Media will be streaming the game at SVInews.com and on the SVI Media YouTube channel.
Lady Braves Head Coach Jessica Bagley is anxious to have a full squad.
“I’m pretty excited for this week, we will finally have our full team for the first time this week,” she said. “We’re making more offensive opportunities for ourselves and our big focus is teaching the girls to be more hungry for goals. Now we want them to have the confidence to take the shots with power so come Thursday I hope we get a good amount of shots and some of them fall. I’m just trying to get them passionate for this week.”
The SVHS soccer teams will be on the road for the weekend as they travel to Riverton for matches on Saturday.
Uneven Conference Numbers
With the unequal numbers between the seven teams of the 4A East and the eight teams of the 4A West, Star Valley and the rest of the 4A West began conference play right away with no non-conference matches. This will change next season with the implementation of the new two-year reclassification cycle. The Cody Broncs and Fillies will be rejoining the 4A classification, evening out the uneven numbers for the past two school years.
