The 2025-26 sports calendar is now completed with the final day of the Wyoming State Track and Field Championships coming to a close in Casper. Both Star Valley teams finished 7th overall in the team standings and had nearly identical point totals as well.
The Lady Braves compiled 42 points over the three days of competition The Casper schools went 1-2 in the girls team standings as Natrona County won the team title with 132 points. Kelly Walsh was runner-up with 112. Thunder Basin rounded out the top three with 102.
The top finish for the Lady Braves was Abigail Carrillo-Zarate’s third-place in the shot put. The senior scored in both throwing events. Sophomore Kelsie Dunne scored in four events as she ran the gauntlet of distance options by placing in the 800 (5th), 1600 (4th), 3200 (6th) and the 4×800 (4th). Adeline Christiansen scored points in both the long and triple jumps. Her mark of 36′ 5.5″ in the triple jump ties Ava Morgan (2023) for the SVHS school record.
The Braves scored 41.5 team points. The Sheridan Broncs won their third straight team title with 158 to claim the 4A Class. Cheyenne East was runner-up with 100 points and Natrona County placed third with 97. Star Valley’s highest finish of the weekend was Colton Cranney’s second-place effort in the 3200 meter. He also placed third in the 1600. Jonah McClure placed 4th in the long jump on the final day of competition.
