The first fall sports tournaments of the 2026 season are wrapping up and that includes high school golf where Star Valley competed in Powell for a two-day event.
On the boys side, the Lander Tigers fended off the Braves by four strokes with a two-day team total of 607. Star Valley finished with a 611. The Cody Broncs rounded out the top three with a 654.
Daltyn DeCora was second overall by a single stroke, shooting a 144 for the tournament. He finished behind Lander’s William Oland who’s round of 70 on Wednesday edged DeCora’s 71. They both shot 73 on Thursday. Deegan Hill placed seventh for the Braves with a 149 which also included a day two 73. Wyatt Pack finished 10th with a score of 154.
The girls tournament was controlled by the Cody Fillies who had the top three finishers, led by Eliana Hopkin who shot a 169. Clair Rusin and Ashlynn Wiener both shot a 177 to tie for second for CHS. Star Valley’s Averie Rivard was fifth overall with a score of 186, followed closely by teammate Kate Ricks who carded a 188. Based on the weekend, there could be some tight competition for the final varsity spot week to week for the Star Valley girls as Presley Froome (200), Tynlee Robinson (202) and Paylan Merritt (202) all finished in a close grouping between 10-12 place.
