A call for area first responders went out just before 11 a.m. on the north end of Afton for a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 89 near Star Storage.
According to information provided by the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), the driver of a Ford Bronco took the wrong turn off of the highway and turned around and re-entered the roadway to traverse the short distance to the correct turnoff. In doing so she pulled out in front of a Chevy pickup towing a fifth wheel trailer who attempted to pass the slow moving vehicle. The driver of the Bronco turned into the pickup causing the collision.
The front driver-side corner of the Bronco hit the passenger side of the Chevy pickup.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
The driver of the Bronco was issued a citation for Failure to Yield.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Afton Fire Department, Star Valley EMS and the Afton Police Department were there to work the scene which included the slowing down of traffic to a single lane of travel.
Trooper Chad Ludwig with the WHP reminded drivers that in situation such as this, the oncoming traffic traveling at a rate of speed of 65 miles per hour and waiting a few extra seconds to enter the roadway is the best decision and can avoid and accident.
