Community Chili Cook-off Hosted by Berean Bible Fellowship

Star Valley’s Berean Bible Fellowship is hosting a community Chili Cook-off on Friday, September 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Afton’s Main Street at 439 Washington. Community members from throughout Star Valley are invited to register online and attend the evening event.

“Bring a pot of chili or come ready to eat and vote,” said Hunter Wilson, representing the event organizers. Prizes will be awarded for the top three winning recipes and for the People’s Choice recipe. Prizes include a 28” Blackstone Griddle, a Yeti Cooler, a Cast Iron Dutch Oven, and more.

Afton Mayor Jeff Jensen, former Representative Marti Halverson and Sheriff Shane Johnson are engaged as judges for the contest. Each pot of chili will be rated on aroma, taste, and if the judge would go back for seconds if given the chance.  Guests in attendance will vote on the recipe that takes home the People’s Choice award.

Though there is no registration deadline, interested parties are encouraged to register as soon as possible.  Pastor Doug Hollen and his wife, Elaine, are hoping to welcome the community to visit this small branch of the Southern Baptist Convention. There is a church on main street, and the Hollen’s want to bring awareness of the church’s location by “having some fun.”

“Just come out and have a good time,” say the Hollens. “Come show off that famous family recipe, or the one that is your famous specialty. There will be much fun and prizes!”
